Strong ITT for Astana on stage 10 of Giro

It was a good day for Limar Sponsored Astana Pro Team on stage 10 of the Giro D'Italia, with   the Spaniard Luis Leon Sanchez setting a blistering time on the 39km test from Foligno to Montefalco, which was enough to see him hold the hotseat until the very end of the days stage.

Sanchez' time of 52' 17 seconds looked like it would be good enough for large parts of the day, with only 3 riders going quicker than him, and one being the new Maglia Rosa holder Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb).

This result shows that Astana are up there in the fight to win stages, and are also in with an outside shot of the podium in Milan, with Tanel Kangert putting in a good performance to finish ahead of Nairo Quintana (Movistar) on the ITT and he now stands in 12th on the GC, one place behind Team Sky's Geraint Thomas who is expected to fight his way back into the top three after the infamous police motorbike incident on the approach to the Blockhaus climb on stage 9.

All here at NRG4 cycling wish Astana the best of luck in the remaining stages, and we have every faith they can pull off at least a stage win in honour of the late Michele Scarponi.
